However, manual compression remains the gold standard despite limitations to its use, including the need for the patient to be undergoing anticoagulation therapy or have undergone an endovascular intervention with a large access site. In 2013, vascular access site management devices for cardiovascular and peripheral indications generated approximately $923.7 million internationally in corresponding product sales; it is expected that, in the year 2018, these methods will generate an estimated $1.2 billion in corresponding product sales.
